Serenaded by Angels
She went to sleep one night,
never here to awake again,
but everything was alright,
between her and Him.
And she awoke in heaven's courtyard,
free from pain within,
the angels gathered 'round her,
and they took her by the hand....
Serenaded by angels....
up to the throne
Serenaded by angels.....
finally at home
surrounded by praises to the King.
Welcome to paradise...
the angels will sing.

Our beautiful daughter Kim, was in an automobile accident
February 19, 1982. This left her a quadriplegic on life
support the rest of her life. She was a miracle in that
she was never expected to live at all, yet did so for 19 years,
and 4 months, while breathing artificially. She had a phrenic
pacemaker she used the majority of the time for the first 10 years,
then was on a ventilator the rest of those years. She was also
a miracle in that she was always cheerful, uplifting those who
visited her. This was commented upon many times during her lifetime.
She was always a joy to us, her family, we traveled quite a bit the
first years, then it became too much on her and we stayed home the last
years of her time on this earth. She accomplished many things for
someone supposed to be "handicapped" and I will tell of those things
on a later page in the memorial website. She would have been a junior
at Troy State University the following quarter had she been able to
continue, her studies, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Above are
her two Chi Omega composite pictures, the first one taken in 1981, the
second about a month prior to the accident in January of 1982.
Below is her favorite picture of herself. This is Kim's work on her
computer using Adobe Photo and was taken from a group picture of the
"little sisters" to the Delta Chi Fraternity. She was a "White Carnation Girl"
or "little sister" to that fraternity and was even sung to by them the
quarter after she had the wreck while still in ICU in the hospital. We had
some wonderful doctors and nurses to allow this to happen. It was a
precious memory of Kim's the rest of her years.

"Kim"
She loved sunshine and she loved life.
Hers was a world of "could have been",
yet she made of it a world where she found
joy, peace and contentment.
She was rare, she was beautiful in body
soul and spirit.
She was mine, my daughter.
She was bound to a machine for life's very breath,
and yet she loved, she laughed and she gave us,
her family, joy in being with her and in caring for her.
She wanted fresh air, wind on her face, sunshine
on her shoulders, yet, when this was not possible
found pleasures in just being, loving her family
and we were her first concern.
I see her in the sunshine, when the wind blows,
when I hear a bird sing, watch a seagull glide
and dive or a porpoise playing. There she is,
I think and there she is in spirit and her love is
and always will be a great part of my life.
She was truly rare, truly beautiful and had the
sweetest spirit of anyone I've ever known.
She was mine, my daughter.
She was Kim.
Backgrounds and the ocean picture by Jean, "Mom".
Kim loved the ocean and it is her final resting place.
The picture at the beginning of this page was taken as
we were leaving her resting spot there. A porpoise jumped
very near the boat which was very pleasing to us, then I
made this picture of the sun on the water and you can see
God's ray of sun, shining down on "our girl" and us.
The midi is "For You", written by
John Denver. This song was a special favorite of Kim's.
