Laci Noelle @ 1 month of age. I visited her at the home of her breeder.
Laci was born December 25, 2004, a Christmas baby. We call her
"Laci". Noelle was added to her name because of the date of her birth. Noelle
means; birthday, Christmas; song of praise. She is a beautiful Pekingese puppy
Her color is 'champagne/white' and we think she is wonderful! We are so happy
to find a breeder with a beautiful little blonde Peke. Laci has been eating on her own for one week, is doing great and will come to her 'forever' home on January 31, 2005.
Pekes are of Chinese origin and date back to the Tang Dynasty of the
8th century. Pekingese were bred in the Royal palaces and anyone caught trying to steal one was punished by death. There first appearance outside
of China was during the war with England and France during the 1860's when
at least one was brought home to England and presented to Queen Victoria.
The British became the first stronghold of breeders for Pekingese. They are called "lion dogs" for their lionine appearance and their fearless nature. They do not seem to realize they are small dogs and will take on the largest of dogs if challenged. Prized as show dogs today, they are even more prized as loving, loyal, companions. They are very loving, playful and eager to please their people.
Laci Noelle, January 31, 2005. Her first day home with us.
Laci has played a lot since we got her home this afternoon. At first, she was hesitant about wandering but by bedtime, she was enjoying herself and the "big" spaces. Her tail is "up"
in the normal Peke way. Earlier, she was investigating but that tail was down.
Laci's 2nd day playing with a favorite toy.
Laci is feeling much more at home today. She enjoys all her toys and the one above is a favorite at this time.
She is eating well and sleeping a lot which is good for a young puppy of her age. She visited our veterinarian today for her "new puppy" checkup and was pronounced healthy. She weighs 2 lbs. She is being fed Hills Science Diet for puppies and loves it.
Laci, trying to play with Buttons.
Laci thinks the Persians are her toys. As you can see, Buttons,
my oldest cat, is tolerant of her as long as she isn't trying
to bite at his legs. When she does that, he simply gets in a
chair where she cannot reach him.
Please click the "Next" link below for pictures of Laci after she
had been with us for a couple of weeks. She went outdoors for the first time.
Thank you Di, for the super Valentine "from Laci".
