James T. Morgan

Born July 5, 1956 into the very best family in the world. Reared with "old school" values in a rural environment where friends are valued and "your word" is a contract. This is a community, (Luverne, and/or Rutledge, Alabama) where everyone knows everyone and generally loves (or at least tries to understand) their neighbor. Raised by indescribably hard working parents. Dad was involved in auto/body repair, salvage, trucking, electronics, fire/rescue, the school board, Baptist Church Deacon, and too much else to cover here. Mom kept the books for everything dad did, worked for the school board as textbook clerk, lunchroom supervisor, and whatever no one else was doing, while unbelievably raising 6 kids and maintaining the home, much of the time alone, since dad was on the road trucking. Educated at the very best schools, a diploma from Luverne High School, a B.S. degree in Agri-Business and Economics from Auburn University, a Masters degree from the academy of exceptionally diverse experiences, and a Ph.D. from the school of hard knocks. The early years were spent growing up playing with all the neighborhood friends and cousins, playing/working under dads feet in the junkyard, around the shop, trips on the truck, and enjoying all the family "get togethers". Enduring 12 years at Luverne High School turned out to be a rewarding experience, from academics to extra curricular activities and athletics. There was the school play, captain of the football team, basketball manager, and generally keeping everything working at the school. A love for horses started about the 11th grade and when the time to go to Auburn arrived, had grown into full scale Rodeo athletics. There was, being a charter member and helping form the first Auburn University Collegiate Rodeo team, participating in bulldogging or steer wrestling, and working towards roping. First worked and lived on the poultry science research farm (thanks to the Hilburns), then later worked at the campus security office and as jailer/deputy for the Lee County Sheriffs department. Moved out to the "Shell Toomer Place" (with Jimmy Sellers) to live and help farm and ranch for the Adams' and Grady Davis. Returned home from Auburn to marry and work with the family business' (auto/body and trucking) for 8 years. A private pilots license, scuba certification, lots of camera equipment, as well as guns, hunting, and fishing made life fun. Paramedic training to serve as a volunteer and later as Chief of the local fire rescue unit made life full. A new home (known then as the "Senator Alton Turner Home", and hopefully by now, equally, and as affectionately, recognized as the "Jimmy Morgan Place" "over there by the School") added responsibilty, obligation, and committment. Along in this time period there were also 10 years of teaching Automotive Technology to high school students at the Crenshaw County Area Vocational Center while also teaching EMT and ACLS to adult emergency medical students at Lurleen B. Wallace Jr. College. Then also started the computer age and several years of consulting/planning/advising the school system on computer/technology matters while teaching. A season on the road with Goodman Knitting Company as a womens apparel sales representative came out of nowhere, and divorce was next on the agenda. Then it was home again to be the Technology Coordinator for the Crenshaw County school system for a year and a half. The latest experiences have been Contract Technology Consulting work. This work was traveling North America for 5 years doing computer/technology work for fortune 50 clients with repeat jobs. And now, to continue exploring career/employment/personal opportunities for the next 40 years.
